Donate to buy a book for a child in hospital
For children in hospitals, books and stories are particularly important as they provide distraction, entertainment and can transport a child to another world. Books give us places to go when we have to stay where we are.
Isolation play packs were created based on an idea from our volunteer team leaders who often found that children with infectious illnesses or low immune systems could not use playroom or ward toys or have volunteers visit their rooms for play. These children were being missed in many normal play activities. Activity packs allow volunteers to leave a new, clean, single use toy, book or craft in with a child and improve inclusivity. When COVID19 increased infection control restrictions and closed playrooms, these Children in Hospital Ireland expanded our use of these packs to help keep play in hospitals accessible.
