On May 2nd 2023, Children in Hospital Ireland hosted their 2023 Annual Lecture ‘Getting it Right, First and Every Time: Improving the experience for children and young people undergoing medical procedures.
The aim of the lecture was to continue the discussions around how children, parents, healthcare professionals and allied staff, can all work together to improve the experiences of healthcare for children and young people. This topic arose following consultations Children in Hospital Ireland had with the CHI Youth Advisory Panel. Lucy Bray, Professor of Child Health Literacy at Edge Hill University in the UK delivered the keynote address and discussed her research into the development of standards, which aim to improve the care children receive when they undergo clinical treatment.
