Thanks to the Re-turn Deposit Scheme, every time you return a drinks container, you can choose to donate the refund to our charity—and help us continue our vital work to support play in hospitals!

What is the Re-turn Scheme?

Ireland’s Re-turn scheme is a national initiative designed to reduce waste and boost recycling. When you buy a drink in a plastic bottle or aluminium can with the Re-turn logo, you pay a small deposit—typically 15c or 25c. When you return the empty container to a participating retailer or reverse vending machine, you get that deposit back.

But here’s the twist: you can choose to donate your refund directly to CIH!

Re-Turn as an Individual

Find your local Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) at your local supermarket and return your bottles/cans. Redeem the voucher for cash at the checkout and donate the amount to us!

Re-Turn as a Company

Retailers with a Reverse Vending Machine (RVM)

Organisations with a reverse vending machine can set the machine up so that all deposits are donated directly to CIH instead. No voucher will be given to the user to redeem the deposit. For more information about purchasing a RVM, see here or contact communities@re-turn.ie

Organisations that do not wish to purchase an RVM can bring their empty containers to a local retailer with an RVM. The retailer will exchange the deposit voucher for cash, and this can be donated through an iDonate page for Children in Hospital Ireland or on our website.
